Produced in 1992 to celebrate the bicentennial of Kentucky statehood, “Made and Bottled in Kentucky” was funded by grants from Kentucky Educational Television (KET) and the Kentucky Distillers Association (KDA). Originally broadcast in Kentucky by KET, it was distributed nationally and aired on most public television stations in the United States.

The DVD transfer was made in 2003 from the Beta SP master. It looks and sounds great. "Made and Bottled in Kentucky" remains the most complete and authoritative program ever produced about bourbon whiskey and the people who make it. It is the perfect companion to the book Bourbon, Straight.

Charles K. Cowdery is one of the most acclaimed writers about whiskey and whiskey-making in the United States. He is a Kentucky Colonel and a 2009 inductee into the Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame.
